Former champion Caroline Lagrange leading the way in 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup
Our champion of 2009, Caroline Lagrange of Canada, is leading the way in the 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, with 1510 over her first six games, an average of 251.67. Caroline also bagged the high game for the women so far with a 279 in her first game.
In second place is Luminita Farcas Bucin of Romania. Luminita came to the World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland, last year as a supporter and bowled as a pacer. So far this year, she is averaging 235.33.
The leader after the first squad , the USA’s Danielle McEwan, now occupies 3rd place on exactly 1400.
Aumi Guerra of the Dominica Republic, who won back to back titles in 2010 and 2011 and came second last year, looks determined. She is currently in 5th place, just behind Cherie Tan of Singapore, although of course there is a long way to go yet.
As with the men, the top 24 will go forward to the next stage of the competition and the score needed is currently lying at a 205 average. The overall average for all the women was 195.26.
Any player will be hoping to set a new personal best and Kris Rive of Jersey did just that. Kris has only been bowling for two years and hit her new PB with a 1032 six game block.
Peter Hellström’s 1543 on Monday set a new six game record, beating the previous 1537 set by Petteri Salonen of Finland, in 2007 when the event was also held in Russia, in St Petersburg.
