First women’s 300 at the 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup
The QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup has seen its first 300 from the women and it was Caroline Lagrange of Canada who shot it, in the fifth game of her squad this morning in Krasnoyarsk.
She admitted to being nervous: “I had butterflies in my stomach, but I managed to relax and throw good balls in the 10th. I am so pleased to be the first woman to hit 300 here.” She will take home the high game trophy.
Caroline further increased her lead with a 1490 six-game set. Five other women hit 1400+: Maria Lourdes Arles of the Philippines (1484), Danielle McEwan of the USA (1475), Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic (1451), Evgeniya Zelenkova of Russia (1441) and Thashaina Seraus of Aruba (1440).
And a further 14 women hit 1300+.
The overall average is now 196.87 and the average needed to be in the top 24 and get a place in the next round is 208.5. That place is currently held by Nataliya Shcherbinina of the Ukraine. With six games to go before the cut, she is 74 pins ahead of Jackie MacColl of Scotland.
The women will bowl their final set of six tomorrow morning, starting at 8am local time.
