We will also welcome back Bader Alalshikh of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who posted his country’s best ever result when he came 3rd in Ljubljana in 2005. His semi final match was memorable for being, it is believed, the first time Saudi Arabia has faced Israel head to head in a sporting competition, when he played Or Aviram.
Mykhaylo Kalika of the Ukraine who came 3rd in Johannesburg in 2011 will be coming back. He too has fond memories of Wroclaw as he was the only player to hit a perfect game in the Sky Centre. He did follow that up with another perfect game last year in Krasnoyarsk.
Petra Stankova of Slovakia made World Cup history in 2009 when she became the youngest player ever to take part. She was just 13 at the time and is back again this year, aged 17, when she will share the honour of being our youngest player with Lia Mojarro of Catalonia. But the youngest overall player this year will be Jiri Beran of the Czech Republic who is 16.
In total 89 countries have registered for this, the 50th edition of the event. The Dominican Republic and the Virgin Islands are sending a female but no male player.
Anne-Marie Board, QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup manager, said: “It is wonderful that Syafiq is coming back to Wroclaw. I always look forward to meeting up with returning players and that is enhanced when the player is a champion.
The event will be held at the Sky Bowling Centre in Wroclaw, part of the Fitness Academy Group. The opening ceremony will be on Monday 3rd November with the finals on Sunday 9th.
Live streaming and live scoring will again be provided, this year better than ever. The official Hashtag of the event is #50BWC.
