Welcome dinner hosted by the Governor of South Sumatra
Deputy governor of South Sumatra, H Mawardi Yahya, hosted the welcome dinner for bowlers, officials and guests.
A group of dancers performed the traditional Tanggai dance of Palembang, offering small gifts to honoured guests – including our own Roger Creamer and Anne-Marie Board!
And former champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic played keyboard with the band.
But the standout performance of the evening was from Felicia Wong of Canada. She is not only a great bowler but can sing like an angel. She was called up on stage and performed two songs. “I loved doing that,” she said. “The band was awesome – they joined in with such professionalism.” In fact it was Felicia’s star quality that impressed. “Is she a professional singer?” was a question asked by many.

Judy Howlett has represented England and Great Britain several times in her bowling career. She played in the Bowling World Cup twice, coming second in 1985 (Seoul, South Korea). She has been in part of the organising team since 2001.
